This policy explains what personal information Ganesh Premium Tea Private Limited collects when you use ganeshtea.com, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
We are the data fiduciary for this information under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect when you place an order
To pack a parcel and get it to you we need, and ask for:
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- Your delivery address, state and PIN code
- Your email address, which is optional at our checkout
- What you ordered, what you paid, and when
That is the whole list. There is no account to create, no date of birth, no gender, and nothing asked for that a courier does not need.
What we do not collect
We never see your card, bank or UPI credentials. Payment is made by scanning a UPI QR code in your own banking or UPI app. That transaction happens between you and your bank. Nothing about it passes through this website, and we hold no card number, no CVV, no bank login and no UPI PIN.
The most sensitive information in an online purchase is the part we deliberately never touch.
If you start checkout and do not finish
You should know this because it is not obvious. If you fill in your details at checkout and then leave without paying, what you had entered is saved: your email address and phone number if you gave them, and what was in your basket. It is kept so that we can help if you come back or get in touch, and so we can tell whether the checkout itself is failing people.
If you would rather we did not hold that, tell us and we will delete it. See your rights below.
When you message us
If you contact us on WhatsApp, by phone or by email, we keep the conversation so we can pick it up where it left off, and we keep any photograph or video you send in support of a claim for as long as the claim needs it.
WhatsApp is operated by Meta, not by us. Anything you send us there is also handled under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
When you just visit the site
We use a self-hosted analytics tool that records pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device it was on. It runs on our own server and the data does not leave it.
We do not run advertising pixels or cross-site trackers. There was a Meta advertising pixel on the previous version of this site and it has been removed, along with every other third-party script. Nothing on this website reports your visit to an advertising network.
Cookies
We use the small number of cookies a shop cannot work without: one to remember what is in your basket, and one to keep you signed in to checkout while you complete it. They are set by WordPress and WooCommerce, they are first-party, and they are not used for advertising.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser. If you block ours, the basket will not remember what you put in it.
Why we use your information
| What for | What it uses |
|---|---|
| Packing and delivering your order | Name, address, phone, PIN code |
| Telling you your order shipped, and sending tracking | Email, or phone if you gave no email |
| Answering a question or handling a claim | Order details, and anything you send us |
| Meeting our tax, accounting and food-safety obligations | Order and invoice records |
| Understanding how the shop is used and where it fails | Anonymous site analytics |
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not add you to a marketing list because you bought tea.
Who else sees it
- The courier carrying your parcel gets your name, address and phone number, because otherwise they cannot deliver it.
- Our hosting provider stores the website and its database on our behalf.
- Government authorities, where we are required by law to provide it.
That is the complete list. If we ever engage anyone else who would handle your information, this page changes before they do.
How long we keep it
- Order records: as long as tax and company law requires us to keep them, currently eight years.
- Abandoned checkout details: deleted on request, and otherwise not kept beyond the point they are useful.
- Messages: as long as the conversation or claim is live, and a reasonable period after.
- Analytics: held in aggregate and not tied to you.
Your rights over your information
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and what we have done with it
- Correct anything wrong, incomplete or out of date
- Erase what we hold, where we are not required by law to keep it
- Withdraw consent you have given, at any time and as easily as you gave it
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to
Ask on WhatsApp at +91 93200 28110 or email info@ganeshtea.com. We will not charge you for it and we will not ask why.
Children
This shop is not aimed at children, and under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 a child is anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, and we do not do behavioural tracking or targeted advertising at all, so none is directed at children.
If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, access to the shop’s admin is restricted to the people who need it, and the database sits behind the hosting provider’s controls. We keep as little as we can, for as short a time as we can, which is the only security measure that never fails.
No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your information we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the law requires.
Where your information is held
On servers operated by our hosting provider. Where any processing happens outside India, it is only to the extent permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, this page changes and the date at the top of it changes with it.
